Covid guidelines

As Sunday services are resuming at St Mark's please read through these guidelines before coming to church:

Please email by the evening of the preceding Thursday to say that you will be coming and remember to include your telephone number.

Communion will be in one kind only and there will be no hymns.

Please socially distance on entry and exit and use the hand sanitiser.

Masks are mandatory throughout.

The service sheet will be emailed the day before each service to those registered to attend. Please print it out, bring it and then take it home with you after the service.

Please sit at each end of the pews on the left-hand side of the church unless you are members of the same household/ social bubble in either case leaving alternate pews unoccupied. Please employ the same two metre social distancing on the right-hand side of the aisles and in relation to the chairs at the back of the church (if required) unless you are members of the same household/social bubble in either case leaving alternate pews unoccupied.

For communion, please approach the altar rail three people at a time such that there are no more than three people standing, not kneeling to receive communion, and three people waiting two metres apart at any one time. Approach the altar rail on the right-hand side of the aisle, remove or lower your mask briefly for communion and then replace it before walking back to your pew.

At the end of the service please leave the church pew by pew starting from the front to avoid a bottleneck at the main door, gathering outside to chat as required in groups no larger than six people to avoid mingling.

There will be no plate collections. Instead, please bring a debit or credit card and make use of the digital device by the pillar at the back of the church.

We recognise that the above arrangements won’t necessarily please everyone, but they look to be the best compromise to allow us to attend church in person in the current circumstances and will be kept under review. For anyone unable to attend, for whatever reason, services will be recorded for subsequent viewing and the intention is to live stream if possible. Please email to register your interest and you will be sent the relevant link.

Please contact Nick Wynne-Jones, Carol Boulter or Torquil Montague-Johnstone if you would like any further information.

Note: The sending of an email to including your telephone number will be taken as confirmation of your consent for collecting your contact details. In line with guidance issued by the Department for Health and Social Care, we will keep your details safely and in compliance with GDPR legislation for 21 days before securely disposing of or deleting them. We will only share your details with NHS Test and Trace, if asked, in the event that it is needed to help stop the spread of coronavirus. We will not use your details for any other purposes or pass them on to anyone else.
